Roz and Gary wise on their extended stay on the big Island say a big hi to all the gang and they will be home for a visit in late December.
Ellie and Dennis on their return from Western Australia caught up with past dance Instructors Paul and Deb Marsh at Mathoura, great to hear that they are having a good time touring in their new bus, a big hi to you both from all at the club and travel safe on your journeys.
October has seen the Lonnie Show, the Rock’n’Rodz day at Longford, the Birthday Bash and the Burnie Ten. We had some of our Club members running at Burnie and we hope they had a lot of fun up on the North West coast, we will endeavor to let you know how they did on the day.

Please note:Your Membership Renewal is due, if you wish to renew your membership please see our treasurer Belinda Wilson.
Membership: How much does it cost to be a member?
It costs $5.00 a year to be a member. This goes toward the administration costs of the club (advertising, postage, printing, venue charges, raffle books etc).
Our new Committee are settling into their roles and are working towards an exciting year ahead for the Club.
The Committee would like all to know that if you have something you would like to discuss in regard to the Club or our activities that our members are most welcome to attend a Committee meeting to share their thoughts or ideas for the Committee to consider. If at anytime you would like to attend a Committee meeting please contact Chris Morrison for next meeting date and time.
As you will all have heard by now, Gaylene and Dale Johnson will be taking a break from instructing from the end of this year. Together they have filled a very exacting role and we express our thanks to them both for all that they have done to assist the Club. Mike and Caroline Lack will be continuing on with the beginner’s classes for the future. The Committee are investigating how best to provide for our intermediate classes and will keep us informed as to the new format for intermediate classes next year.

At the invitation of the Show Society to provide dancers to demonstrate the art of Rock’n’Roll at the Launceston Show 20 Club Members performed over 3 days to the music of the “Skooterz”.
The Thursday night was very chilly but the dancing went someway to warming us up. The weather on Friday and Saturday was so much kinder to those who attended and the Firework display on Friday night was magic. The Club earned $300 for our efforts and Lulu (Lyn) Allen will be using the money for props for further demo’s. The Club would like to thank the Show Society for affording us the opportunity to showcase Rock’n’Roll here in Lonnie.
Pictured above are club member’s,Theo Bakker and Lexie Synefield and below are Rex and Deborah Sparkes. Both couples looked great on the dance mat and we thank everyone who came along for their time and wonderful support.

No harm in starting them off young, it was great to see the community taking part as well, there were some very talented youngsters who came up over the 3 days and had a go, who knows maybe some future Rock’n’Rollers

The lighter side of Life:
One of our local wags required some grease for his tow ball so he went to the hardware shop and no they don’t sell grease, so off he goes to the local garage and asks do you have grease, yep goes the owner, the stuff we use is 15 bucks a tube. Our wag says to the mechanic, can I just have six squirts on a serviette !!! Guess who???
Thought for the month:
Your day will be only as good as you make it, choose wisely!

October saw Retro Rocker Kim Doyle organize a trivia night in support of the variety Club. Accompanied by the “Girls in Pajamas” from “Tas Bash” what a great fun night it was, so different from the normal trivia nights. Lots of fun and laughter and lots of participation by all the teams made it a really top night out.
The evening saw many of the participants join in the theme for the night in their PJ’s. The Retro Rockers had two teams plus more members spread around the tables on the night. One of the highlights of the evening was the attendance of the Tasmania Police Force representative, Senior Constable Steve Burton.
Steve’s involvement added a wonderful dimension to the night. Many people were fined for many infringements on the night causing many laughs, particularly hit were those who didn’t wear their PJ’s and quite a few others for some outlandish apparel.
Photo: S/C Steve Burton, Connor McDonald and 2 of the Tas Bash PJ Girls. A big thanks to Tas Police for their support and participation. Thanks heaps to S/C Burton and the “PJ” Girls who helped to make the night so much fun.
|
Why one or two of us incurred $10 fines is puzzling to say the least, just can’t think why the S/C was so harsh in his awarding of the very severe penalties???????
In total $1340 was raised for the variety Club, well done Kim.
